Israel, Iran, and Purim

By David Ben-Ariel I am a Christian-Zionist, but I am able to learn from anybody who shares the plain truth; glean principles from both secular and religious, Christian or not, and make the most of it in my spiritual life, so help me God. Mind you, I don’t go looking around in other religions for the record, but I do subscribe to the following Jewish Bible lessons that come out in time for Sabbath eve each week and enjoy them immensely as they offer greater insight into the Hebrew wording and bring that week’s scriptural passages to life, vividly relevant, like Herbert Armstrong’s Plain Truth magazine used to look at world events in the light of Bible prophecy. Those were the days. I also enjoy the Jewish/Israel educational email services of Root and Branch Association, based in Jerusalem, whose president, Aryeh Gallin, I’ve been blessed to know and appreciate. I used to attend many of the Root and Branch lectures he offered when I sojourned in Jerusalem before being unjustly deported. Another story, another time. As an Israelite, descended from the tribes of Joseph and Judah, recognizing the Israelite origins of the West as taught by Brit-Am Israel, I celebrate the victory of our Jewish brethren over their sworn enemies, whether past or present, and know the victory comes from our gracious God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. May the day come soon when Joseph and Judah are reunited as “One Nation Under God,” a truly “United Kingdom,” in the Promised Land of ISRAEL, delivered from our vicious enemies and out of the bloody mouth of the brute European beast soon to devour the nations and rip apart the world as we know it. YESHIVAT HARA’AYON HAYEHUDI (Yeshiva of the Jewish Idea) Jerusalem, Israel HaRav Yehuda Kroizer SHLIT”A, Rosh Yeshiva (Yeshiva dean) PARSHAT TETZAVEH (Sabbath reading) 11 Adar, 5766/10-11 March, 2006 PURIM 5766 - AND STILL GOING STRONG! Some weeks ago the president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while denying that a Holocaust against the Jews took place during World War 2, stated that there was indeed a holocaust which took place in Iran some 2000 years ago, in which the Jews killed thousands of people, and to this day still celebrate year in and year out with singing and drinking. He was, of course, talking about the story of Purim. Some might indeed mistakenly come to the conclusion that all killing is a bad thing. In fact, we find even among fellow liberal Jews, that the holiday of Purim can make them blush and feel uncomfortable, for here we find the Jews celebrating the downfall of their enemies after killing some 75,000 of them. Now how un-Jewish is that? There is, then, in this world good and evil, and they are not the same - and Woe to one who mixes up the two! Take, for instance, the example during World War 2, when Germany bombed England and England bombed Germany. Both bombed, but surely, every sane person knows that one was pure evil and one was fighting for good. Hashem has created good as well as evil in this world, and it is our job to complete creation and eliminate evil from the world. Amalek and his physical and spiritual heirs must ultimately be wiped off the face of the earth, as King David said: I hate all those who hate You (Hashem). King David himself had killed thousands, as the Book of Samuel tell us: Saul with his hundreds and David with his thousands. Still, all whom King David killed were looked upon as a sacrifice before Hashem, for David had eliminated evil from this world, thereby making it a better place. Today we are witnessing, throughout the world and in Israel, the mercy of fools; those taking pity on the wicked - such behavior is not good, but evil. How clearer a signal could Hashem have sent us than the Hamas landslide victory? Now it is clear for all to see that there are no innocent bystanders among the Arabs living here in Israel. Clearly, the great majority of them want to see Israel destroyed, as was made clear by them in their elections. It is high time for Israel to act accordingly and stop playing around, claiming that there are innocents in the area and moderates to work with. Clearly the law must be the same for all of them. And still, we see the nations of the world continuing to explain away the Hamas victory, even as the Arabs have learned to use the great tool of democracy to their advantage. They (the nations) too, are guilty of taking pity on the wicked, and surely this, too, will backfire on them in the end. As nation after nation invites Hamas to visit, and the European Union and the U.S. continues to pour millions of dollars in the PA, which of course will go to continuing their terror campaign. So, it really is too bad that the beloved president Ahmadinejad of Iran does not understand the difference between one who comes to kill, and one who kills defending himself. For history repeats itself so often. And if he comes, like so many before him, against the Jewish State - he and his people will be the ones to fall. It is worth recalling the strange last words uttered by one of the leading Nazis, who was hung after Nuremberg trials: “PurimFest 1945″. So take note, cruel and harsh world: Purim is still going strong for the Jewish people! Redemption of Online/Internet Coupons at Your Local Stores

By Angela Hresan-Henley Many of you have written to me about having “issues” redeeming internet coupons. Some store policies include NOT accepting them. I have been fortunate to have had success in redeeming my coupons locally but I want to give you some HELP for those that cannnot. SOME STORES do not accept ANY coupons other than their own. the list of stores that do not accept them in my area that I wish they did are BIG LOTS SAMS CLUB SALVAGE BARN *********they opt out because it would take employee hours to sort and send them in, plus coupon fraud etc they state that they do not make enough profit to warrent this……. I do not shop at these stores often because of this for groceries and health & beauty products, I can get a better deal else-where on most items! These stores are not WRONG for what they do, just are not condusive to my needs. There is such thing as COUPON FRAUD and some stores are saying they are not accepting internet coupons due to this. There are articles on the net about this situation and one site that sends letters to the stores asking them NOT to accept the coupons from the net. The following is an article about WHY stores choose not to accept internet coupons http://www.ag.state.ar.us/consumer/ca199.htm The following article talks about the MONEY LOST per year due to ALL COUPON FRAUD http://www.jsonline.com/news/gen/feb03/121476.asp The following url is an info site about Coupons & Coupon Fraud, they prosecute people who misuse and abuse coupons……. they ALSO send out faxes to store headquarters about Internet Coupon issues. http://www.cents-off.com/faq.htm NOW YOU CAN SEE WHY THIS IS A CONCERN FOR COMPANIES and WHY some are choosing NOT to be involved! Coupon FRAUD is not limited to INTERNET but is ACROSS THE BOARD! ALL of the coupon activity is open to the ABUSE that occurs, THIS IS WHY FREELANCEBYU.COM ACTIVILY FIGHTS and TALKS AGAINST abuse and misuse of offers by companies, WE WANT THE SAVINGS TO CONTINUE AND BE HELPFUL not hurtful to the companies! NOW THAT WE KNOW WHY, lets work on how we can CHANGE THAT! HERE is a recent article about coupon usage and the GROWING USE OF INTERNET COUPONS! “COUPON CLICKERS” THIS IS ENCOURAGING! http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?1003631 There are MANY STORES (MOST OF THEM) that have their own WEBSITES (why? because they know that the internet is powerful and helpful to the consumers, CONSUMERS are what keeps them in business!) MY LOCAL GROCERY AND PROBABLY YOURS TOO…… At FOOD LION (my local) there is ADS on their RADIO in the store that tells the consumers to go to SMARTSOURCE.COM for coupons, in addition they send out THEIR OWN internet coupons! NOW if your store participates in these practices (advertising on the net, online newsletter, ads about online coupons coming from speakers in their stores etc etc) HOW CAN THEY NOT ACCEPT WHAT THEY ARE PART OF? KROGER & FRIENDS also have internet sites, and they also participate in UPONS (internet coupons) www.upons.com ALL of their stores are listed here, and SHOULD ACCEPT THE FORM OF ADVERTISING THAT THEY, THEMSELVES pay to promote! MOST of the larger companies utilize the growing internet coupon resources to cut their own expenses! AFTER ALL they are providing the savings, but NOT PAYING for printing, paper and distribution! THIS IS A GREAT SAVINGS TO THEM when we print out our own coupons and seek them on the net, so this is the WAVE OF THE FUTURE, WHY SHOULDNT IT BE, same results , same savings to the consumer, LESS COST to the manufacturer! NOW……………… HERE IS A STORE NOT IN MY AREA THAT IS ROCKING WITH COUPONS ON THE CUTTING EDGE! YEA BABY! http://www.morningnewsbeat.com/archives/2002/10/25.html PublixDirect To Begin Accepting Coupons PublixDirect, the online arm of Publix Super Markets, announced that it will begin accepting manufacturer coupons from consumers shopping over the Internet. The service, which launched in 2001 and says it has now made 200,000 deliveries, said it was responding to consumer demand in making the change. It had hoped to wait to accept coupons until online coupons became a currency of choice, but consumers forced the retailers hand. PublixDirect personnel collect the coupons while making deliveries, with the value credited to their account for their next online purchase. KC’s View: Granted, taking paper coupons at this point in the development of e-grocery services can be cumbersome. Lets call it what it is: a pain in theneck. But it seems to us that to not accept coupons is to make a strategic error, because it creates a differential disadvantage for such services. The whole point of online grocery shopping, it seems to us, is not to separate it from the brick-and-mortar experience, but rather to make it just another avenue through which to do regular shopping. It works when it is considered mainstream and integrated, not when it is separated by different policies. DO A SEARCH for your local store (use one of the contest search engines when you do, who knows maybe you will win something while doing your research, check out the WINNING section of our FORUM and you will see that I have won LOTZ from using this method! YESTERDAY I won $35 in Gift Certificates doing this!) put in your store name that does not accept internet coupons if you chose WALMART you will see that they do not run weekly ads on the internet for groceries that I can find and have a policy NOT to take internet coupons, I am not sure there is anything we can do about WALMART (it is non-union and appears to have pull in many ways, including the ability to be successful JUST BECAUSE and not because it offers excellent customer service or the best prices) the best thing that walmart does is MEET COMPETITORS PRICING so that you can get all of the sale prices in one place, but the aggrevation of dealing with walmart is not worth it to me. IF THIS IS THE ONLY LOCAL STORE YOU HAVE GO FOR IT……. otherwise my suggestion is CHOOSE ANOTHER STORE! NOW that you have found your store ONLINE and their weekly ads etc, find out their WRITTEN POLICY ABOUT COUPONS, does it specifically say NO INTERNET COUPONS? DO THEY SEND OUT INTERNET COUPONS THEMSELVES? DO they allow advertisers to talk about their internet coupons ? BETTY CROCKER, PILLSBURY, SMARTSOURCE, UPONS etc………. if they do this needs to be brought to their attention! NOW! I have included all of my stores that accept internet coupons without question and a copy of the inquiry I sent the ONLY time I have had issue with internet coupons and the POSITIVE response I rec’vd as well. I have also written and included a more updated FORM LETTER that you can feel free to use below it…………please change the XXXXXX’S to reflect your own personal information when using this letter……….hopefully this letter will be effective and will help change the companies mind about their current policies……if not, what did it hurt to try? FEEL FREE to use any of the resources I have mentioned ANYWHERE in this letter in your own letter as well….. my form letter is just an EXAMPLE ………. YOU CAN WRITE YOUR OWN! HERE ARE THE STORES IN MY LOCAL AREA THAT HAVE ACCEPTED INTERNET COUPONS from me: Dollar General IGA Food Lion Walgreens CVS Kroger Rite Aid Eckerds Ukrops I have had one issue with denial of a coupon at DOLLAR GENERAL, a quick note to the company confirms they DO accept the coupons and they would “fix” the issue. Here is the corrospondance: MY LETTER TO DOLLAR GENERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE was sent through PLANET FEEDBACK http://www.planetfeedback.com I sent my daughter to the store with $1.00 coupon that was sent to me by GENERAL MILLS via email for their LUCKY CHARMS cereal… she attempted to use it at your store and was told that they could not accept coupons that were printed out as it appeared “copied” this coupon was completely valid and SCANNED just fine on your register. My daughter was HORRIFIED and EMBARRASSED by this experience. We frequently shop at your store because ofconvenience (area wise) even though we would prefer a credit card accepting store which is just a few minutes down the road that I redeemed this VERY SAME COUPON with the same day , with a SMILE AND A THANK YOU! with the growing use of internet service around the globe you would think that most stores would rise to the growing technology and accept VALID MANUFACTURER COUPONS from the internet. If this is not rectified my family will not mind a bit going 2 more minutes away from home to spend our dollars. THEIR RESPONSE: Thank you for your e-mail. At Dollar General, we place a premium on customer service. Please be assured that the situation in Powhatan will be immediately investigated and addressed. Your e-mail has provided us with an opportunity to adhere to our mission - serving others - and we sincerely appreciate that. We apologize for how this experience made you feel and welcome any opportunity we have to serve you in the future. You are a valued customer here at Dollar General. WE DO ACCEPT COUPONS, INCLUDING INTERNET COUPONS and the problem will be addressed immediately Kind regards, Crystal Cantrell Customer Correspondence Representative, Customer Relations FORM LETTER ***I have had success using www.planetfeedback.com and do suggest you use that venue to make sure that the letter goes to the RIGHT PERSON and is getting viewed PUBLICLY …… TO: XYZ GROCERY OR DRUGSTORE FROM: YOU THE CONSUMER I have been a customer of yours for (XXXX amount of time) and like your store for the following reasons XXXXX YYYYY ZZZZZZ I have recently visited your store, to buy several items and this included XXXXXX product. I presented the cashier with a coupon for this proudct from XXXXX manufacturor who in good faith is promoting their products on the internet and offering a savings to their loyal internet consumers. THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX THE INTERNET and PROMOTIONS on the internet are the wave of the present and the future. It is shocking that a company such as yours, believes in the power of the internet, which is evident in your own use of this tool, yet does not allow me to take advantage of its resources! here is your own internet site www.XXXXX.com (example www.foodlion.com) here is your own use of internet coupons www.XXXXX.com (example: www.upons.com ) here is an example of a product you promote that offers online coupons www.XXXXX.com (example bettycrocker.com) With the growing use of the internet (almost everyone these days has online access) it is surprising and disappointing that I was denied this right to use these savings in your store from LEGITIMATE RESOURCES! I understand that you may be concerned about “fraud” with this type of coupon, but did you know that there is fraud with all types of coupons, not just the internet coupon? Are you aware that fraud occurs in every company and that you can deduct your losses from your gains on your taxes? AND I BELIEVE that if you accept ALL coupons your gains will INCREASE because you will have more customers ! READ THIS ARTICLE FOR REFERENCE http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?1003631 THANK YOU for reading my letter, it is my hope that you will DISCONTINUE this practice which is both ARCHAIC and DISAPPOINTING to the TECHY SAVVY SHOPPERS That would love to continue being your customer if this change occurs! PLEASE KEEP MY INFORMATION and LET ME KNOW when and if you are changing your policy to reflect the wave of the FUTURE and ENCOURAGING internet customers to frequent your stores. Pre-repaid SIM Card Kenya

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney An East African country, Kenya is flanked by Ethiopia to the north, Tanzania to the south, Somalia to the east, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest. The southeast border of Kenya is flanked by the Indian Ocean. Vasco Da Gama, the great Portuguese explorer was the first European to visit Kenya when he arrived at Mombasa in 1498. The Portuguese domination in Kenya was mainly confined to the coastal strip from Malindi to Mombasa and it officially began after 1505. They invaded all the coastal towns and collected tributes forcibly and also set up Portuguese domination of the sea throughout the coast of Kenya. They also made Kenya their base to control trade in the Indian Ocean through piracy. As pirates, they were able to demand high tariffs from different commercial traders sailing through the Indian Ocean. In 1593, the Portuguese constructed Fort Jesus in Mombasa to solidify their position in Kenya. But their influence was later disrupted by British, Dutch, and Omani Arab intrusions in the region during the seventeenth century. Omani Arabs were successful in completely expelling the Portuguese from the Kenyan and Tanzanian dominions by the year 1730. But like the Portuguese, they could only control the coastal territory and not the interior Kenya. They established the slave trade which they continued till 1839, after which the British, who aimed at putting an end to slave trade, took over. By 1880, the German and British domination on sea had taken over Kenya to their folds at the expense of Omani Arabs. For historians however the colonial history of Kenya starts from the establishment of a German protectorate over the Sultan of Zanzibar in 1885. Thereafter the Imperial British East Africa Company arrived on the scene in 1888. German handed over its coastal holdings to Britain in 1890. The Kenya-Uganda Railway was also established during that time. During the early twentieth century the country developed the land into a large coffee and tea growing nation. From 1952 to 1959, Kenya saw a state of emergency being thrust upon due to the Mau Mau rebellion against British rule. However, since 1956 the Mau Mau rebellion was on the decline and soon became extinct after a massive anti-resurgence operation by the British. After the first direct election to the Legislative Council in 1957, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) headed by Jomo Kenyatta came to power. Ultimately Kenya earned independence from foreign rule on 12th December, 1963. It was somewhat unfortunate that a country and its people who were subjected to long colonial rule and oppression, themselves indulged into similar activities in the matter of Somalia later on. After Kenyatta, who was the President of Kenya from 1963 to 1978, Daniel arap Moi became President and continued till 2002 when he was constitutionally barred from running and Mwai Kibaki became the President from the opposition. Kenya is a presidential representative democratic republic and has a multi-party system running. Executive powers are vested with Government, with the Legislative powers vested with both, the Government and the National Assembly. The judiciary is completely independent of executive and legislature. The most prominent political scenario was the silent transfer of power from a party who ruled the country for 40 years to its opposition in 2002. Kenya comprises of eight provinces. They are Central, Coast, Eastern, Nairobi, North Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley, and Western. Each of these eight provinces is headed by a centrally appointed Provincial Commissioner. The eight provinces are divided into 262 divisions called taarafa and further subdivided into 1088 locations or kata. Kenya has an area of about 225,000 square miles and it is the 47th largest country in the world. The terrain rises from the coast of Indian Ocean and the low plains to the central highlands bisected by the Great Rift Valley. The Kenyan highlands comprise of one of the most affluent agricultural production regions in Africa. Mount Kenya is the highest peak at 17,057 feet in height and the climate varies from tropical to dry as you move from coast to interior. Wildlife is found in abundance in the reserves and parks of Kenya, but they are not only confined to that area. Though Safaris are routed through these parks, a visitor would find plenty of wildlife outside. Most of the stretch of reserves found in Kenya is the famous savannah, an area with rich pasture shaded with trees and this is where you would find the herds of antelopes. It is amazing when you look at the different species grazing upon different kinds of grass and not one of the species would interfere with the domain of the others. Where the antelope grazes, the carnivores lurk in the bushes for a hunt. You will find lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, and hyena, along with the others, roaming the land of the savannah. You will get to see smaller carnivores, such as, serval cat, genet and jackal. You will hardly be disappointed if you are looking to find lions in savannah, since lions are quite common in this part of Kenya. These lions doze during the day and get alert as the evening falls and set out for the hunt. The Cheetah is different and with the speed that it has, it prefers to hunt during the day. Kenya is a country of diversified cultures. The Swahilis on the coast, the Pastoralist communities in the north are the most prominent tribes in Kenya. There are several other communities in the central and western regions. The Massai culture is quite well known for their bravery. The warriors within the Massai would protect the community with a sense of pride and bravery. The Massai tribe attracts many tourists for the legends that the tribe carries with them. At one time it was thought that they are the lost tribe of Israel. Strangely enough there is no specific national dress or outfit till date for Kenya. It has however, its own national flag. Among popular Kenyan music are the afro-fusion and benga and the traditional folk song. Guitar is the most popular instrument. In the field of Sports, Kenya has excelled in football, rallying, rugby, boxing, and running. Marathon World record holder Paul Tergat hails from Kenya. Films and movies are gradually gaining popularity, though drama and acting in television plays holds the drivers seat. Kenya holds one of the biggest annual drama events, the Kenya schools and Colleges Drama Festival in the south of Sahara. If you are thinking of using a cell phone in Kenya, you may be concerned about a number of things. First, there is the question of expenses involved. You would like to be in touch with your family and friends, near and dear ones, business associates and all. But on the roaming the cost may be too much to bear. At the time when mobile telephony was not available, you had reasons to get in touch with your associates and friends, both locally and abroad, and also with your family back home. In order to do this, you might have used the telephone in your hotel room. The telephone bills that you had to pay at the end of your stay in the hotel were quite large. The next time you went abroad, you had your cell phone with you, and you had used it to call the people concerned. You had paid heavily not only for your outgoing calls but also for the calls that you received. You were using the roaming facility. You were using the roaming facility. In order to provide you the facility to use your cell phone in another country, your service provider had entered into a business contract with the specific provider of the country that you are in. This business contract is also a financial agreement between the two service providers. Very briefly, the contract says, that each time you use the services of the foreign provider, whether to call or receive calls, your home service provider will be charged according to the air time that you use. More-over, as long as you are on roaming, there is a standard charge for the facility provided. Therefore, your service provider charges you more than normal for your roaming outgoing and incoming calls. A possible and very viable solution to you for this problem would be to buy a Pre-Paid SIM card for Kenya. Such a Pre-paid SIM card could well save around eighty percent of your call expenses. When you purchase a Pre-paid SIM card of Kenya, you get a local number. Consequentially you are charged for all your calls at the local rate. All your incoming calls are free, no matter where it generates from. Neither you pay any roaming charges nor there any necessity of entering into a contract with a service provider. The entire proposition is far less expensive compared to the old land phone call or the cell phone roaming system. Benefits of a pre-paid SIM card for Kenya do not end there. Additionally, when you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Kenya, you receive a small talk time credit along with such a card. As a result you are able to use your cell phone as soon as you reach your destination in Kenya. In order to top up your talk time credit, you can procure vouchers or recharge coupons from almost all shops in the city. Since the vouchers are available in different denominations, you can chose to buy the value that you would want for replenishing your credit. Since you pre-pay for your calls, you are in control of the expenses that you are incurring, this allows you to remain within that budget that you have set for for the purpose. For more information on the prices and services related to the Pre-Paid SIM card for Kenya, please visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml What is a SIM card? A SIM card is the abbreviation of the term Subscriber Identity Module, which is of the size a little smaller than a postage stamp. It is a smart card, in form of a printed circuit board, which has a microprocessor and memory. It is the module which renders your cell phone intelligent and allows you to make and receive calls and use your cell phones in other ways. The SIM card goes into a slot at the back of your cell phone. As you open the back cover, you shall be able to locate the slot where the SIM card is placed. A SIM card holds your unique information, such as, you as the phone’s owner, the SIM card number, your subscription information, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) of your mobile phone and other security details. As you switch on your phone, the information is transmitted to the nearest tower of the city that you are in. The details transmitted are checked for its validity and security and if they are found satisfactory, you are logged into the network. Your cell phone is now ready for making and receiving calls. A SIM card also holds your address book, where you may store the names and telephone numbers of the people you frequently call. It also logs your incoming and outgoing calls and such calls which you have failed to answer. The telephone numbers of these calls are logged according to their dates and time of call. You would need a GSM cell phone in Kenya If you should have a GSM phone with you, it is very unlikely that it would work in that country, unless your cell phone supports multi-frequency bandwidths. The network in Kenya operates on 900MHz and 1800MHz GSM frequency band, where-as, North America, Canada and a few neighbouring countries work on 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM bandwidths. This difference would not allow your phone to be used in Kenya, unless you have a multi-frequency phone, supporting the network frequency of that country. Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is the second generation (2G) and the first open architecture digital mobile technology, replacing the old analog first generation (1G) system. It is being used in over 214 countries with 80% subscribers out of the total mobile users in the world. GSM has four sets of frequency bands, which are 850 MHz, 900 MHz, and 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz and are distributed to the different regions. Some of these frequencies are commonly used by different countries, with the exception that 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM bandwidths are exclusively being used in North America, Canada and a few other neighbouring countries The major advantage in using GSM technology is that you have the facility to get in touch with people from about anywhere in this planet, when you are roaming with your phone. To facilitate use of GSM cell phones in different parts of the world, handsets are available in multi-frequency bands. The Quad-band GSM phones, operate on all the GSM frequencies and there-by is suitable for use the world over. The Tri-band works on 800MHz, 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands, and operates in most part of the GSM region. There is the Dual-band, having compatibility with two of the GSM frequency bands - 800MHz and 1900MHz. The GSM phone that you are taking with you on your visit to Kenya, should be SIM unlocked, as otherwise, you will not be able to operate your pre-paid SIM card for Kenya or any other SIM card for that matter. A SIM locked cell phone will only work with the SIM card which is meant for the phone. Why are cell phones SIM locked? Consider the following example. When you sign a contract with a service provider, a clause in that contract might stipulate that you will have to use the services of this particular provider for a definite period of time. This is generally one year. In exchange, you will receive a cell phone of your choice, within the models offered by the service provider, and at the end of the contract the cell phone becomes yours. When you receive the phone, you also receive a SIM card from your service provider. The phone that you have received is SIM locked, and would only work with the SIM card that came along with it. At the end of the contract period the service provider helps you to SIM unlock your phone, when it may be used with any SIM card of your choice. Therefore, whether you are taking your cell phone, buying one or renting it, for your visit to Kenya, you need to make sure that your cell phone is not SIM locked. If you are a frequent traveller to foreign countries, you may consider buying such a multi-frequency phone which would work in the countries that you visit. If you are travelling in-frequently, it is economical for you to rent a compatible phone for your visit to the country. For more information in buying or renting a compatible cell phone, visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_gsm.shtml A pre-paid SIM card for Kenya is affordable and saves you substantially on your call expenses. You pay as the locals do and your incoming calls are all free. You do not pay roaming charges. There is no contract for you to sign and you do not receive any bill at the end of the month. Since you pre-pay for your call charges, you are aware of the expenses that you are incurring. Cell phone use overseas. In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. When combined with a SIM CARD (which usually goes under the battery of the phone) the phone is able to communicate and the SIM CARD also holds the telephone number and memory for pre-paid credit. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Such as, from the UK to the USA 7 cents/minute, from Israel 22 cents, from Australia 27 cents. Yes, USA Dollar cents! There are today even prepaid service providers in the USA offering rates of 10 cents per minute to call anywhere in the US to any type of phone. No contracts, no credit card checks, no bills. Pre-paid always means no minimums no contracts, no obligations. You only pay for the calls made. You’ll need an unlocked GSM tri-band or quadband UNLOCKED phone. Providing Bird Houses for Feathered Friends

By James Hunt Many people enjoy animals of avian nature. Theres something about the natural ability to fly that captures the human imagination. Birds come in many colors, arrayed in natures beautiful, and sometimes extravagant, plumage. Whether you want to provide bird houses for non-domestic birds, or whether you provide bird cages for the accommodation of birds in your home, there are many ways to provide a comfortable place for birds to live or visit. Different varieties of bird prefer different types of bird houses. Deciding what type of house to place in your yard can impact which species of bird you attract to your backyard. There are plenty of books on the subject of birds, and bird houses. These books can help you understand what certain birds look for in the way of a resting place. Most hobby and craft stores provide kits and patterns to allow those inclined to working with their hands to build their own bird houses. Not only can this be a fun solo activity, but it can also provide a couple of hours of family togetherness. For those who prefer to have birds in the home, there are many types of bird cages available for purchase. When choosing a bird cage, it is important to ensure that your bird will have enough room. Many companies manufacture luxury bird cages for pampered birds. While a luxury cage isnt necessary, there are a few things a good bird cage should have to allow maximum comfort for the pet. Perches located at various heights inside the cage are necessary, as are a few colorful toys. A bell can also add an element of amusement for the bird. Birds are beautiful creatures. It can be a very enjoyable experience to observe them, and play with them. Bird houses in the backyard can attract many different species to right outside your window, and you can make your feathered pet more comfortable in a nice bird cage. James Hunt has spent 15 years as a professional writer and researcher covering stories that cover a whole spectrum of interest. Traditional Offline Marketing - Part I

By Nicholas Tan Dont think of these methods as too simple or mundane. They are very effective when done right and combined with other techniques in this report. Classified Ads This is something everyone should be testing in some form or another. Its great for lead generations. You should still have a strong benefit-driven headline and a clear call to action. Free reports work very well with classifieds. My local paper, the Hartford Courant even has an ongoing deal of 3 lines for 3 days for free! Even adding more lines only ends up costing a few bucks. With a price like that, theres no reason anyone with a website should not be testing ways to draw traffic to the site with classifieds. Direct Mail Nothing beats direct response when it comes to results-driven proven advertising. And messages sent directly to your highly targeted market via direct mail can deliver a terrific return on investment (ROI) when tested properly. Theres a wealth of information on direct marketing by Michel Fortin, David Garfinkel, Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy, and many more experts. Here are some sites where you can learn more: Postcards Yes, postcards are a form of direct mail, but it warrants its own category. Postcards are cheaper to produce and mail than full-blown direct mail packages or sales letters, and they are great for generating leads. Like classified ads, a free report or free gift often works well here. Postcards are also a great way to stay in touch with your customers and prospects, and they also work well as part of a sequence of mailings. A good place to go for customized postcards is http://www.usps.com (the US Postal Service website), because the USPS has partnered with a company that will print and mail your postcards for you! Best of all, you only pay for the postage (i.e. FREE printing costs). Hint: be sure to include yourself on the mailing list so you can get your own mailing as well. to be continued…. We provide free articles and information on lots of diverse topics. For the Love of Butterflies

By Jodi Hopper Have you ever gone for a walk in the woods and touched a plant only to get an extreme itching, burning sensation. It can be quite painful. Congratulations, you have come into contact with Urtica dioica or otherwise known as Stinging Nettle. Growing up, we always called it Itch Weed. It looks innocent enough, but it has lots of little stinging hairs, that contain formic acid, histamine, acetylcholine, and serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) that will cause this stinging and burning sensation. This sensation can last up to 24 hours, depending upon the sensitivity of the person. This plant can be found all across the United States. If left unchecked, the plant spreads by seeds and by its rhizome roots and can grow into rather large patches. Now you may ask why anyone would ever want to consider planting such a weed. It does not produce pretty flowers, so it cant attract anything worthwhile, right? No, this isnt true. I once thought of this plant as a terrible nuisance. Eradicate it from my property. I took much pleasure from cleaning it out of my fence rows and next to my out buildings. But one year, I was busier than most and let a patch grow in my field. Later that summer, I found lots of caterpillars on it and that is when I found that Stinging Nettles are a host plant for several butterflies. One butterfly, the Milbert Torteshell, uses Stinging Nettles as their sole host plant for their caterpillars. This is a delightful butterfly and one that I have become quite fond of. Nettles are also the host plant for Red Admirals, Painted Ladies, West Coast Ladies, Satyr Anglewing and Commas. If you dont know what a host plant is, that is a plant that a caterpillar eats to survive on. Some caterpillars have several host plants, others have only one. Locating the caterpillars on the leaves is not hard. All you need to do is look for leaves that are closed in half, from side to side. It is amazing to watch a caterpillar the size of hair, weave these leaves closed. They take a fine silk and carefully lace the leaf closed. After the leaf is closed about them, they then will eat inside of the enclosure. This is to protect them from predators. But it only protects them to a certain extent. Spiders crawl inside to snack on the caterpillars. I have watched wasps peruse up and down the plants, looking for caterpillars. One butterfly may lay several hundred eggs, but only about 2% of the eggs will survive to become adult butterflies. If you do decide to introduce this plant onto your property, plant it somewhere that you are not likely to come into contact with it much. If you are able to mow around it on a regular basis, this will keep if from spreading. It grows best in nitrogen rich soil. I find that my butterflies like to lay eggs on the patches that are in the afternoon sun. You do not find as many caterpillars on the patches that are located in the shade during the afternoon. I have found that with practice and much care, you are able to touch this plant without getting stung. If you do get stung, it is said that you can crush jewelweed, plantain, or dock, over the area to alleviate the pain. On my research of this plant, I found that it is reported to have many other benefits. You are able to eat it and drink it. There is a recipe for Nettle Pudding and you can make a Nettle Tea. What are the benefits to eating or drinking this? Stinging Nettles have high levels of minerals, including a trace of iron, and it has more protein than any other vegetable. One person wrote that when they felt tired, run down, or irritable, that the tea was good for rebuilding the system. He also went on to say that it makes your hair brighter, thicker, and shinier and your skin clearer and healthier (good for eczema and other skin conditions). I even read that it is recommended for weight loss, but they went on to say that you may lose more water than weight. Not sure you want to put this stinging plant inside your mouth? There are plenty of uses for this plant other than eating or drinking it. You can make hair tonics, facial steams and rinses, and nettle tea compresses are good for wounds, cuts, burns or stings. And I have heard that it can relieve arthritis. Soaking the leaves overnight in water, then using this as a spray is supposed to be a good pesticide for aphids or spider mites. And using the Nettle Tea to feed your plant reportedly helps them to grow. I am not sure I am brave enough to eat it or drink nettle yet. Maybe I will have my family in and make a new recipe, only to announce what was in it after they have finished. Or maybe I will wait to see if their hair and complexion improves, then try it myself. I am curious to see if it will work as a pesticide and also boost my plants growth, but I do know for one thing, the regardless of whether it will give me shiny hair or cure what ails me, it will always have a spot on my property, just for the butterflies. Origami Instructions

By Jeremy Hansen Origami is a fantastic art form that guarantees hours of fun and enjoyment, not to mention a great way to challenge yourself and build your creativity. However many beginners come across trouble in 2 main areas: 1. Following the instructions (especially when the creations you wish to fold become more complex) and 2. Finding enough information in the form of patterns and directions so that you don’t become bored! I know this because I found the exact same problems! As a result I developed an Origami resource that would actually solve the ‘Origami Problems’ I know people want answered to make life easier for everyone who wants to enjoy this amazing art. Some of these include grey shades black shades, dotted lines straight lines, forward arrows reverse arrows and crossed arrows. - Every Origami structure is made up only of a certain set of folds that is common to every other diagram. ie there are techniques you can learn to assist you no matter what it is your folding. Some of these folds include the sink fold, the wet fold, the reverse fold and the inverted fold. - There is a certain order in which to learn folds bases and finally full designs that ensures you understand the fundamentals of paperfolding once and for all. - And finally there are places tucked away (that have taken me hours to discover) where you can find CLEAR directions for any origami design your heart desires, and if you have developed your skills in the right way, you can be able to fold, without frustration. Let Them Eat Wedding Cake - Without Eating Up Your Wedding Budget

By Cori Locklin Your wedding cakethe ultimate wedding reception centerpiece. It should be eye-catching and fabulous. (tasty too!) And just like every other aspect of your wedding day costs can creep skyward. But dont let a tight budget stand between you and the ultimate wedding cake. Size and design are the two main determinants in wedding cake cost. Creative brides can play with these elements to create a confection that is super-fab.and kind to your catering tab. Have your cake (and eat it too) with these budget saving tips: Cut that Guest List As with all cost-per-person aspects of your wedding, narrowing down your guest list will result in significant wedding cake savings. Less mouths to feed = less slices; you get the idea. And any cake cutting fee, typically charged on a per slice bases as well, will also be reduced. Hip to be Square A cake square in shape yields more slices than one that is round with the same dimensions. So go square and make a deliciously modern statement! Go Natural Hand-constructed gum paste or sugar paste flowers can quickly rack up your wedding cake cost. Substitute these costly adornments with fresh fruits and flowers an inexpensive option that is equally stunning. Keep It Simple While intricate, over-the-top cakes evoke the ultimate in wedding day opulence, todays shift towards modern minimalism can foray into the world of cake design. The result is always chic - never a budget breaker. Lose the ornate adornments and infinite skyward-stretching tiers, and opt for a clean design with an impeccably smooth surface. Add simple details such as a Swiss dot pattern or wide ribbon around the base. Stick to one flavor, as multiple flavors will increase the bottom line. One Stop Shopping If your wedding reception facility offers an onsite caterer, employ their services for your confection as well, and save on delivery and service fees. You will also ward off chances for a transportation mishap a headache you surely want to avoid on the big day! Many reception sites offer a wedding cake as part of their package deal, so be sure to inquire when scouting reception sites. “Dummy Cakes” Fancy a towering and dramatic wedding cake but dont want to shell out the extra cash? Instead of paying for extra layers, ask your baker to create faux layers consisting of iced Styrofoam. Trust us your guests will never be the wiser; it will be our little secret. Outside the Proverbial Cake Pan Of-the-moment brides are breaking with tradition and forgoing the cake all together - presenting instead pies or pastries on tiered platters as the centerpieces of their wedding receptions. Depending on your selection, this can be an uber-chic way to save. Dare we say it, even doughnuts are in vogue having been spotted at some of the poshest black tie events!
